September Events

25th Annual Belmont Shore Car Show
Sept. 7, 2014
9am to 3pm

The Belmont Shore Business Association is hosting the 25th Annual Belmont Shore Car Show Sunday, September 7, 2014. The event is a long-standing community favorite that draws upwards of 50,000 from all over California to Belmont Shore.  The fourteen-block stretch of East Second Street will be closed from Bayshore Avenue to Livingston Avenue for the event.  Up to 700 classic cars will be on display making it one of the largest car shows of its kind on the West Coast.  The side streets that intersect with Second Street will also be closed to the alleys for the purpose of exhibiting cars.
What makes this car show unique is its location.  Taking place on the usually busy Second Street (driven by an estimated 40,000 vehicles per day), attendees have the opportunity to intermix shopping and dining with viewing the gorgeous automobiles.  After all Belmont Shore is home to over fifty unique and upscale shops and nearly fifty restaurants, cafes and sweet shops!  You also can’t beat the weather of this beachside town with the warm sun and ocean breezes.
But of course it’s the cars that bring the large crowd.  You can expect to find some of the first automobiles ever made as well as classic roadsters, coupes, sedans, convertibles, muscle cars, sports cars, hot rods and low riders from the 1920’s through the mid 1970’s.  Many cars are one-of-a-kind, limited editions or customized.  It’s estimated that the total value of the cars on display will be in the ballpark of $25 million!
Returning to coordinate the Car Show is the Bay City Rodders car club of Seal Beach.  The cost to enter is $30 for pre-registration, $35 at the show, and $80 to be a “power parker”.  Power parkers allow entrants to park in their chosen location without waiting in line prior to regular entries. Visit www.baycityrodders.com for an application and more information on entering.
To enter your car and for more information, visit baycityrodders.com

2013 Sponsors present at the show include Performance Plus Tire, Port of Long Beach, Long Beach Airport, Verizon Wireless (locally owned & operated), Rite Aid in Belmont Shore, Machan Sign Co., Satellite Solutions, Greenhill Memorial Park, Electric Car Sales & Service Inc., Yellow Cab, Grunion Gazette and unique Vendors will line the streets.

East Second Street from Livingston to Bay Shore and intersecting side streets from Quincy Avenue to Claremont Avenue will be closed to traffic from 5:00am to 5:00pm. We recommend parking in the beach lot off Ocean Boulevard

Featuring Long Beach's latest super group, "Jelly of the Month Club." Who would have ever thought that some of Long Beach's most successful rock musicians would cut their mullets and retire their leather pants long enough to create a children's band and cd that is absolutely stunning kids and critics alike? This group features original members of Sublime, The Ziggens and Zen Robbi. Beach Kids love Jelly of the Month Club's hysterical songs about lemonade stands, dolphins and waffles as evidenced by today's enthusiastic young devotees singing with and jogging alongside the group while they perform. I'm sure that all pirates agree that this band for kids is RRRRRRRsome (awesome). Sail into Schooner at Sunset on PCH in Sunset Beach!
